Academic and Professional Journey

Genevieve began her undergraduate program in September of 2020. Prior to the pandemic, Genevieve worked part time as a sales associate at Atmosphere as well as at Dalhousie Universities summer camps. Once restrictions were reduced Genevieve took on a full time role with Dalhousie Camps during the Summer of 2021 while continuing part time with Atmosphere. In the fall of 2021 with classes remaining online, Genevieve wanted the opportunity to practice and apply the skills and models being learned in class. This is when she began her work with Learningo Recreation, an organization which offers programming for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disabilities. In January 2022 she made her return to Highland Dance instruction, taking on an adult and youth beginner class at Higgins Highland Dance Studio. In the summer of 2023, Genevieve made her return to summer camps leaving retail behind, working full time with Halifax Recreations Ready 4 Rec Camps, which offered adapted programs with high levels of support for children with physical and behavioral needs. In fall 2023, Genevieve would accept a part time position with Mountain Equipment Company (MEC) where she would then become the Store Sustainability Advisor and the Inventory Task Specialist. In fall 2024 she began her internship placement at IWK Kids Rehab while maintaining her part time roles at MEC.
